Short version: Chat Shield doesn't collect, store, or transmit anything about you. It runs entirely inside your browser tab and never talks to any server — including ours, because we don't have one.
Chat Shield is a browser extension for web.whatsapp.com. It adds a visual blur over your chat list, open conversation, and profile pictures so that people glancing at your screen can't read your messages — nothing more.
None. Chat Shield does not collect, log, sell, or share any personal data, browsing activity, or message content — yours or anyone you message. There is no analytics, no tracking pixel, and no remote server the extension communicates with.
Your on/off preferences for each blur toggle are saved using Chrome's built-in storage API. This data:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|

Remember your blur toggle preferences between browser sessions. |
host_permissionsweb.whatsapp.com only |
Apply the blur styling to the page. Chat Shield cannot run on, read, or affect any other website. |
Chat Shield never reads, copies, transmits, or stores the content of your chats. It applies a CSS visual effect (a blur filter) to elements already rendered in your browser by WhatsApp itself — it does not intercept, log, or have access to your messages in any other way.
If this policy changes, the update date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Material changes will also be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing's version notes.
